The Free State has hot summers with afternoon thunderstorms and cold, dry winters with frequent frost. Days can be windy on the open plains.
- Avoid inflating on frosty mornings until the sun has warmed the PVC, which is stiffer and easier to damage when very cold.
- Watch for afternoon storms in summer and deflate early.
- Ground sheets protect units on rough or stony show grounds.
Before any outdoor event, check the local forecast and warnings from the South African Weather Service, and never operate inflatables in lightning or strong wind.
